Summer Fun with NU Folks!

From Seattle to Maryland and Tampa to Texas, members of the Norwich family got together for good times this past spring. A sampling of their adventures is below.

NU Club of Northern Alabama Hockey Night Everyone had a great time at our March hockey night and collectively raised $100 to donate to the Still Serving Veterans organization located in Huntsville. We invited a few soldiers to join us for dinner and drinks (and more importantly, a place to sit!).

NU Club of Arizona CGCS Graduates Reception The NU Club of Arizona hosted its first ever CGCS Graduates Reception on May 17. We celebrated the graduates’ achievements, welcomed them into the Norwich family, and introduced them to the club members. CGCS alumni outnumbered Corps alumni (a first)!

NU Club of Brevard County 10th Annual Golf Outing A great day of golf, lunch, and dinner was had by all in March. We relived our days on the Hill and were given an update on the latest and greatest at Norwich by NU representative Laurie Lamothe.

NU Club of Tampa Spring Break Networking Social Three NU Club of Tampa alumni enjoyed a Yankees preseason game in Tampa in March. Despite the small turnout, some great networking was accomplished!

NU Club of Leavenworth Monthly May Social Led by our fearless leader Clen Humphrey ’77, the NU Club of Leavenworth met for its monthly social during Cinco de Mayo. As always, we had a great turnout and even better conversation.

NU Club of Maryland Champagne Brunch A group of 18 shared a Champagne Brunch in Ellicott City, Md., in March. We were joined by NUAA Board member Colm Walker ’05, who provided highlights of their activities. Ben Hummer ’17, the captain of the Norwich football team, was also in attendance.

NU Club of Portland Spring BBQ In spite of the rain, a hardy group of Norwich alumni met in Portland, Ore., on May 14 to enjoy a cookout.

NU Club of Seattle/Tacoma Wine Tour Norwich alumni living in the Pacific Northwest gathered for guided wine tours and tantalizing wine-tasting adventures on May 14. We visited Chateau Ste. Michelle, the largest producer of Riesling in the world. A big thanks to Greg ’77 and Laurie Finan Bowers VC ’77 for organizing the event.

NU Club of Richmond May Social Nine folks gathered at the Pig & Pearl on May 26 for a delightful social. We networked, relived our Norwich days, and shared some great food and drink.

NU Club of Houston 4th Annual Camping Weekend The NU Club of Houston held its annual Camping Weekend in Oakwood, Texas, at the home of Tom and Carolyn Rumney ’69 on April 22–24. Fishing, shooting, beanbag toss, four-wheeling, and even a makeshift driving/pitching range were the fun activities. The Rumneys were exceptional hosts, as always.
