THIS FALL, the Class of 1950 returns to the Hill to celebrate 65 years since graduating. Other notable events of 1950: The first credit cards are issued (Diners Club); Zenith markets the first television remote control device; North Korea invades South Korea; China invades Tibet; the persecution of Communists is initiated by Senator McCarthy; 12 nations agree to the creation of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO); President Harry Truman approves production of the first hydrogen bomb; and Albert Einstein warns that nuclear war could lead to mutual destruction. – d.l.w.
