NORWICH HONORS ROBERT DOLE

On June 25, Norwich University presented former U.S. Senator and 1996 presidential candidate Robert Dole with an honorary Doctor of Public Service. GEN Gordon R. Sullivan, USA (Ret.) ’59 presented the honor during a ceremony at the World War II Memorial on the National Mall. Trustee Joel A. Kobert ’65 and Vice President for Academic Affairs Guiyou Huang joined President Richard W. Schneider for the hooding portion of the ceremony. A highly decorated World War II veteran and lifetime public servant, Dole, while serving as a combat infantry officer in Italy, was severely wounded in 1944 attempting to save another’s life. NU honored Dole for his dedicated service to nation and others before self, a Norwich guiding value.
