“Lisa was loved by so very many; she touched the hearts of those she knew and those she helped.”
– Lisa’s longtime friend Brigitte Codling ’02

Lisa Ann Kaiser, 43, of Woodbury, Vermont, passed away surrounded by her family at the Vermont Respite House in Williston following a valiant battle with cancer.

A graduate of Lamoille Union High School, Lisa followed her dream of becoming a nurse, graduating from the nursing program at Vermont College in 1992. Her roommate at the time, Brigitte Codling ’02, remembers how hard Lisa worked to get her degree. “She would be planted at the end of the couch in our apartment with a book in hand while I watched TV,” Codling recalls. “She would sit at home and study while the rest of us went out. It meant so much to her to get that degree and she did it! And she proved to be fantastic nurse—loving, caring, and dedicated to helping people.”

Lisa’s professional career began at Central Vermont Medical Center and spanned more than 20 years. She headed up the I.V. team at CVMC, where she was known for her soft touch with the needle. “Lisa was one of the few nurses I let take my mom’s blood,” a friend posted on Facebook.

Lisa also worked at Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice and was the RN director at Cota’s Hospitality Home in Barre. The manager at Cota’s, Jane White, recalls how devoted Lisa was to her patients. “She was awesome with the residents, very kind, very generous. They just loved her,” White says.

A loving wife and mother, Lisa is fondly remembered by her family for the joy she derived from gardening, spending time outdoors, making crafts of all kinds, and traveling throughout the United States—but most especially for the love she expressed to her family and many friends.

In addition to her parents and a large, extended family, she leaves behind her husband and high school sweetheart, Jeffrey Kaiser, and their two young daughters, Kaitlyn and Madeline.

The World Needs More Nurses Like Lisa!

Lisa Kaiser, RN, worked at two facilities that care for the elderly: Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice and Cota’s Hospitality Home in Barre.

As our population ages, there continues to be a critical shortage of nurses. Lisa’s family has expressed the wish that gifts in her memory be directed to the Elizabeth Good Comolli Nursing Scholarship Fund at Norwich. This year, more than $111,000 in nursing scholarships was awarded to 12 deserving Norwich students. Without this financial aid, most of these students could not afford their education.

Checks made payable to Norwich University can be addressed to Development Office, Norwich University, 158 Harmon Dr., Northfield, VT 05663. Be sure to include the words Comolli Scholarship/I.M.O. Lisa Kaiser on the memo line. For more information, call 802-485-2300.
